News & Events / Indigenous Veterans Day

Today, on Indigenous Veterans Day, Summit proudly pays tribute to the brave military service of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis in Canada, honoring their sacrifices. We deeply reflect upon the valor and selflessness exhibited by our Indigenous Veterans, who have made invaluable contributions in the face of prejudice, and unequal treatment. It is our sincere encouragement for everyone to delve into the stories of these remarkable men and women, preserving their legacies and ensuring they are never forgotten.

Patience, stealth, marksmanship, the use of language as code-talkers were just some of the invaluable skills Indigenous servicemen and servicewomen contributed along with the immense courage displayed throughout history. These brave individuals have fought on the front lines, facing unimaginable challenges and hardships. This includes discrimination from military peers and our government institutions.

On this Indigenous Veterans Day, let us stand together in remembrance and gratitude for the extraordinary sacrifices made by our Indigenous Veterans. Let us honor their courage, their resilience, and their unwavering dedication despite unfair treatment. May we never forget their immeasurable sacrifices made, and may their legacies continue to inspire and educate future generations.
