SUMMIT, An Earth Services Company., is looking for highly motivated and experienced individuals to be a part of our growth strategy into the Australian market with the Drilling Waste Management Division as Senior Environmental Field Advisor (Competition #19-02-0289). This is a full time specialized position, based out of Brisbane, Australia.

You will be supported by the entire Summit organization which consists of a dynamic Team of technical administrators, business development professionals, an in-house IT department and many other highly experienced, skilled and educated Professionals. You will report directly to the Director of Operations Australia.


Job Duties: 

  • LWD field support

  • Sampling

  • Rehabilitation (including sump backfilling/reinstatement support)

  • Sump suitability field support (including trials of liners for sumps and flare pits)

  • Waste management field support

  • Rig support/audits/checklists

  • Daily updates from the field

  • Creating and updating SOP’s including compliance and efficiency

  • Safety adherence

  • Land spraying While Drilling (LWD) and associated environmental assessments required in the delivery of this new to Australia method of drilling waste management

  • Providing direct or indirect technical subject matter, expertise for services offered

  • Develop and cultivate relationships with appropriate government/regulatory officials and maintain a positive working relationship, staying abreast of any legislation or administration changes

  • Training of new staff members in consultation with the Summit Management Team



  • Must have a degree in a related discipline (Ecology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Soil Science, Biology, Chemistry)

  • Ability to undertake a variety of project-related tasks including: drilling fluid sampling, testing and disposal coordination

  • Ability to represent Summit during discussions with Landowners, Agents of Regulators and representative of Summit’s customers

  • Strong knowledge of DWM (minimum 2 years’ direct experience); experience in EAS Division an asset

  • An exceptionally high degree of understanding of Drilling Waste Management and specifically Landspray While Drilling (“LWD”)

  • Strength in integration and understanding of the interpretation of regulatory requirements

  • Candidates must be prepared to work in a multidisciplinary project team environment

  • A strong understanding of oil and gas drilling and how Minimal Disturbance Drilling practice works, and what is included within the scope of services to successfully execute MDD.

  • Extensive knowledge of spill response, and how to manage under pressure that would come from such events

  • Strong knowledge of soils, vegetation and chemistry

  • Should be very familiar with drilling rigs, associated equipment and personnel

  • Proven leadership skills, analytical thinker, and a strong public speaker

  • Highly proficient writer and competent with the Microsoft suite of software
