SUMMIT is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join the Environmental Assessment Services (EAS) Division as a full-time permanent Biologist (Competition #18-04-0212) in Saskatchewan. This position will require both field and office work based out of Weyburn/Regina, SK.
You will carry out your duties in consultation with the Regional Manager/Project Manager, EAS on all matters. The primary duties will be focused on baseline environmental assessments and environmental inspection/monitoring. You will draft, review and submit all daily field reports, diagrams, site observations as well as make site recommendations. You will also be responsible for technical reporting and support for regulatory permit applications. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring the quality, cost efficiency and timeliness of deliverables.
You will be supported by the entire Summit organization which consists of a dynamic team of Professional Engineers, Biologists, Chemists and Agrologists, technical administrators, business development professionals, and an in-house IT department.
Candidates must be prepared to work in a multidisciplinary, fast paced project team environment and able to undertake a variety of project related tasks related to EAS.
A University Degree or College Diploma from a recognized institution – specializing in environmental science, biology, ecology, or related specialization
Professional Designation or potential to obtain designation (P.Biol, P.Ag.)
A minimum of 5 years' direct experience in the environmental industry (Oil and Gas, Energy and Utilities)
Ability to lead field crews and design surveys for Saskatchewan-based wildlife following applicable Species
Experience with wildlife data management, analysis and interpretation, and determination of appropriate
Linear and non-linear Environmental Inspection and Construction Monitoring (preference to large scale
Experience supporting other biophysical disciplines (e.g., wetlands, rare plant)
Experience completing environmental site assessments and soil sampling
Excellent technical writing skills and experience writing technical reports
Experience with common GIS platforms
Assist in proposal writing and assessment design
Ability to take initiative, ownership and work independently with excellent problem-solving skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Experience building relationships with clients, regulators and stakeholders.
Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to travel to remote locations, potentially for extended periods of time.
