SUMMIT, An Earth Services Company is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join the Summit Decommissioning Services (SDS) Division as a Operations Manager (Competition #18-07-0232) in Calgary, Alberta. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring the quality, cost efficiency and timeliness of deliverables.

You will be supported by the entire Summit organization which consists of a dynamic Team of technical administrators, business development professionals, an in-house IT department and many other highly experienced, skilled and educated professionals.


  • Ensure Management of Change Process (MOC) is followed for all associated projects

  • Lead monthly operations meetings

  • Manage workflow by working closely with field staff and operations managers

  • Cost estimates, scheduling and cost forecasts

  • Manage contractors, equipment procurement, and inspection to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule and within budget

  • Provide engineering technical support to operations and maintenance staff for operational, environmental and regulatory compliance issues

  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with procurement requirements, MOC process and Summit hazard assessment processes

  • Provide mentorship to staff as needed

  • Provide innovative solutions to meet business needs creating the best value for Summit

    and our clients

  • Perform review and risk assessments on technical issues

  • Participate in safety and regulatory audits

  • Prepare regular reports on project status, and operational issues

  • Participation in HAZOPs and design reviews for the decommissioning of pipelines and


  • Identify and implement optimization initiatives

  • Promote safety, regulatory, and environmental awareness


  • University degree in Engineering or Technology Diploma required; Mechanical, Petroleum or Chemical Engineering preferred

  • Professional Designation (P.Eng) with a minimum of 7 years upstream oil and gas experience and in good standing with APEGA or (CET) with a minimum 10 years upstream oil and gas experience and in good standing with ASET

  • Familiarity with CSA, ABSA, ASME codes as well as OGC and BCSA regulations

  • Strong technical understanding of production equipment including well sites, pipelines,

    compression, metering and dehydration

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills

  • Strong judgment, analytical and business skills

  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills and able to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team

  • Highly organized and proven skills to manage many concurrent activities

  • Strong project management skills

  • Ability to execute efficiently in a time constrained environment

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • This is a Safety Sensitive position and requires extensive time in the field
