SUMMIT, An Earth Services Company is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join the Environmental Assessment Services (EAS) Division as an Intermediate/Senior Environmental Specialist (Competition #19-04-0297) in Alberta. This position is permanent full-time and will require both field and office work based out of Calgary, AB.
You will carry out your duties in consultation with the Director/Project Manager, EAS on all matters. The primary duties include: organizing/managing/executing work plans for selected Oil & Gas and Energy Sector clients, scheduling and follow up with office staff to ensure necessary field and office work is executed in a timely fashion. You will draft, review and submit all daily field reports, diagrams, site observations as well as make site recommendations.
You will be supported by the entire Summit organization which consists of a dynamic team of Professional Engineers, Biologists, Chemists and Agrologists, technical administrators, business development professionals, and an in-house IT department.
Candidates must be prepared to work in a multidisciplinary, fast paced project team environment and able to undertake a variety of project related tasks related to EAS.
A science-based University Degree or College Diploma from a recognized institution Professional Designation or potential to obtain designation (P.Ag, P.Biol, R.P. Bio, P.Eng)
A minimum of 3-5 years' direct experience in the environmental industry (Oil and Gas, Energy and Utilities)
Experience with Reclamation and Remediation, is required
Experience with Groundwater monitoring is required
Ability to undertake a variety of project specific tasks related to reclamation, remediation, and spill response
Broad experience and extensive knowledge of the Federal and Provincial regulatory framework
Excellent technical writing skills
Ability to navigate communications effectively and provide time-sensitive solutions to regulators, contractors, and clients.
Ability to take initiative, ownership and work independently with excellent multitasking and problem-solving skills
Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to travel to remote locations
