SUMMIT, An Earth Services Company is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join the Reclamation, Remediation and Risk Management (RRR) Division as an Environmental Specialist (Competition #19-09-0325). This is a full-time position based out of our Calgary, AB office.


Job Duties: 

You will carry out your duties in consultation with the Project Manager, RRR on all matters. The primary duties include but are not limited to:

  • organizing/managing work plans for selected Oil & Gas and Energy Sector clients

  • scheduling and follow up with office staff to ensure necessary field and office work is executed in a timely fashion

  • writing technical reports, remediation and groundwater programs

  • draft, review and submit all daily field reports, diagrams, site observations as well as make site recommendations

You will be supported by the entire Summit organization which consists of a dynamic team of Professional Engineers, Biologists, Chemists and Agrologists, technical administrators, business development professionals, and an in-house IT department.

Candidates must be prepared to work in a multidisciplinary, fast paced project team environment and able to undertake a variety of project related tasks related to RRR.



  • A science-based University Degree or College Diploma from a recognized institution – specializing in Environmental Science, Agrology, Biology, or related specialization.

  • Professional Designation or potential to obtain designation from a professional association (i.e. P.Ag) would be considered an asset

  • A minimum of 5 years' direct experience in the environmental industry (Oil and Gas, Energy and Utilities)

  • Experience with Remediation and Reclamation, is required

  • Experience with groundwater monitoring, is required

  • Ability to undertake a variety of project specific tasks related to reclamation, remediation, and spill response

  • Broad experience and extensive knowledge of the Federal and Provincial regulatory framework

  • Excellent technical writing skills

  • Ability to navigate communications effectively and provide time-sensitive solutions to regulators, contractors, and clients

  • Ability to take initiative, ownership and work independently with excellent multitasking and problem-solving skills

  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to travel to remote locations
